Sassy Cheryl Challenge #209 - Two Dies and some Purple

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I'm stopping by with a quick post for this week's Sassy Cheryl Digi Challenge Two Dies and Some Purple Cheryl's shop is full of new and adorable images. I bought " Say Cheese Please " during the recent Memorial Day sale and couldn't wait to color and play. Sorry for the poor quality photo.  I still haven't found a good way to photograph scrapbook layouts! Here's a close up of the sweet image: I'm also sharing my project with Cheryl's Show Me Thursday Challenge . Thanks for stopping by!  I always enjoy reading your comments.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #206 - Just Foolin' Around

This week's Sassy Cheryl Challenge is  " Just Foolin' Around ". Dawn is hostessing this week and she has asked us to use a "silly" Sassy Cheryl image for our project.   The first "silly" image I could think of was one of Cheryl's vintage images called "Sassy Opinion".     I kept the design clean and simple to focus on the silly image and coordinating sentiment.  A paper border from Basic Grey Olivia Paper pad and twine finish it off.     The sentiment is continued on the inside.  It's so perfect for this image, don't you think?  The digital sentiment is from Create With TLC . I am also sharing this card with the ladies over on the Sassy Cheryl Show Me Challenge #142 . Be sure to check out both challenges this week!  Cheryl hosts a fun and easy challenge every two  weeks that only involves your camera and a blog post. It doesn't have to be about crafty project...

Sassy Cheryl, MFT sketch & Simon Says!

I hope you are having a great weekend! We've had a beautiful, sunny day here in Anchorage. We even managed a hike with the pups earlier today! I'm stopping in to share a card that I created for Mother's Day. The sweet image is from Sassy Cheryl. I searched my stash of digis this week and couldn't resist using " Pigtail Gabby " again for this card. This week's Sassy Chery challenge is "Lot's of layers ". The sweet Gabby image was colored with Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils.  It was fussy cut and applied with foam  dimension tape.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC and  called " Happy Mother's Day to Everyone ". Here's a close up of the colored image.  So much fun to color!   Except for the freckles, I couldn't help but think that "Gabby" looks like my little niece!  Maybe that's why I've been drawn to this image  so much recently.  LOL! ...

Sassy Cheryl - Anything Goes

Oh, how I have missed playing along with the Sassy Cheryl challenge these past few weeks! (So much crafting and so little time.) I purchased " Pigtail Gabby " a few  weeks ago ... she is absolutely adorable. Love those pigtails and wisps of hair  covering her sweet face! This week's challenge over on the  Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge blog is " Anything Goes ". I'm taking advantage to get a head start on  my Mother's Day cards. A clean and simple design focusing on the adorable image.  The top border is from Simple Stories, as well as, the die cut sun.  The Mother's Day sentiment is from  Create with TLC.  The digital set is called " Happy Mothers Day to Everyone ". I colored the image with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils. Charcoal pencils were used for shading.  I had so much fun coloring this new image! I am also entering the card into the following challenges: ...

Paper Smooches Sparks - Anything Goes Challenge

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! We are having a beautiful, sunny day. When I saw this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge was "Anything Goes".  I knew I wanted to create a scrapbook layout using photos from our recent trip to the island of Maui. I have used  " Surf & Turf " from Paper Smooches Stamps and Polaroid die . The seaweed is from Kim's "Ocean Friends"set. The layout was created by combining stickers, designer papers, stamps and a Hero Arts stencil.  Below is a closeup of the  stenciling process.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but I applied a layer of Liquitex gloss heavy gel for texture. Thanks for stopping by for a closer look! I am also entering this into the  following: April Paper Smooches Guest Designer Search and Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #140

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #183 - Lilac and Lavendar

When I saw the Sassy Cheryl challenge post for this week I thought to myself "this is going to be hard". Shades of purple are definitely not my go-to color!  But, I took the challenge and I must say that I'm happy with the creative result! I was one of the lucky winners of last week's Sassy Cheryl Show Me Challenge .  Being a big fan of Sassy Sally, I knew I had to get the newest " Rainy Day Blues " image featuring Sally and Bella.  Aren't they adorable?  They truly look so disappointed in the rain that has probably ruined some fun outdoor adventure that they'd planned! The digital image was colored with Copic Markers, Prismacolors pencils and blended with baby oil. The image was layered on Gina K Designs Pure  Luxury paper and Wisteria Lane designer papers. Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  I am also sharing this with the Sassy Gals over on the Show Me   challenge blog this week.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #180 and Show Me

It has been a busy summer and I haven't gotten a chance to play along with the Sassy Cheryl Challenge for several weeks.  It's nice to have an extra Birthday card on hand, so I pulled out an image that I colored earlier this summer and put this together: I think it's no secret that Sassy Sally is my favorite among Cheryl's digital characters.  This little image is called " Just be Yourself ".  The image was colored with Copic Markers, Prismapencils and blended with baby oil.  Oh, the base was inked on the edges with a piece of drywall tape.  I'm loving the look! The sweet sentiment is from Create with TLC and called " Special You ".   Be sure to check out all of Paulette's digital sentiment sets.  I'm sure you'll find one that's perfect for your next card! I used this week's sketch from My Favorite Things and added a couple of die cuts.  Here's a close up of Sally: I'm also sharing this card with...

Sassy Cheryl Show Me - Week 2

Hello All!  I am popping in quickly to share with the ladies over on the Show Me blog .  Cheryl has extended the challenge for two weeks and allowed us to enter twice.  It's easy, fun AND you might win a free Sassy Cheryl Digital image!  How great is that?! I think I mentioned last week that we've had family visiting.  That coupled with the GORGEOUS summer we are experiencing has kept me out of the craft room.  :)  So, I'm sharing a couple of photos from one of our trip down to Portage Glacier and Byron Glacier.  Always the photographer and rarely the photographed!!  My mom took this pic of me at Byron Glacier.  She bought a new camera with a really good zoom.  You can tell that I'm quite a distance from them! I also had my picture taken with the very famous Smokey the Bear at the Portage Glacier Visitor's center.  I hope you are having a great summer!  Thanks for stopping by for a closer look.

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Challenge #124

Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend!  We have family visiting and took them out to see some Alaskan sites this weekend.  I thought I would share a few of our photos with the Sassy Cheryl ladies for this week's Show Me Challenge . The first photos were taken at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center outside of Girdwood, Alaska. Elk feeding at the Conservation Center Female Brown Bear feeding on caribou at the Conservation Center Small herd of Wood Bison which is being released next year    We spotted this family of Dall Sheep high on the mountains as we drove out of town to the Conservation Center.  It's amazing how they can traverse the rocky mountain side. We had a great day with beautiful weather!  Thanks for stopping by for a closer look and letting me share some of the Alaskan wildlife with you.

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #122

Sorry I've been MIA for several days.  I have been away from my "crafting cave" visiting family out of state.  I had a really good time and got a chance to do some crafty shopping.  My all time favorite place to shop is Hobby Lobby.  This trip was really super big as I hit a 50% off sale!  Wow! I thought I'd share some of my goodies with you for this week's Show Me challenge : I can't wait to play with the goodies!  I hope you are having a creative week.  Why don't you play along with the "Sassy" ladies this week?  It's really easy and we enjoy stopping by to see what you have going on.  You can find the details on Cheryl's blog HERE . Sassy Cheryl Challenge #167 - Lace and Handmade Flowers

This week's Sassy Cheryl Digi Challenge is "Lace and Handmade Flowers".  I used the adorable "Sally Meets Bella" image for my card this week.  I'm not positive, but I think this image may be retired.  It's so adorable that I hope Cheryl brings it back to life in her new shop! The handmade flower was made using a MFT Die-namics flower die and matching papers from the Echo Park This & That paper pad.  The image was colored using Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils.  Shading has been added with a charcoal pencil.  Below is a close up of the colored image. The sketch is courtesy of week 258 Sketch Saturday challenge:   I am also sharing this post with the ladies over on the Sassy Cheryl Show Me Challenge Blog .   There is time left for you to enter the fun.  Hop over and check out the details!

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #114

Another quick post today for Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Challenge .  DH and I just returned from a trip to Arizona so I haven't had much time to be crafty.  But I thought I'd share a couple of photos from our trip.  Neither of us had ever visited Arizona so this was an eye opener.  Going from snowy, mountainous Alaska to the desert was quite an experience! This photo was taken of an old abandoned mercury mine out in the desert.  It was very interesting!  This photo was taken of an abandoned dwelling.  I thought the scenery through the old window was very interesting.  My attempt at artistic photography! :0 The final picture was taken in Oatman, AZ .  It's an old mining town where the burros are allowed to run the streets.  Most beg for carrots or other food items and let you pet them.  It was quite original! Thanks for stopping by and taking a closer look!  Don't forget to take those photos and share with the Sassy Chery...

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #109

We awoke to -10 degree temperatures in Anchorage this morning.  If that wasn't enough fun for the day, when I went to get my car out the garage for church, the garage door was frozen.  Ugh!  DH had already left for work so I got to stay home all day. Since I had a little extra stamping time today, I decided to put together an altered composition book.  My mom likes to use a journal when they take trips.  I recently bought this adorable camera embellishment at Mike's in the $2 bin.  So, I thought, why not make a travel journal?! Here's the supplies that I used: Here's the finished book: Easy peasy!  After I glued the designer paper to the book, I trimmed and sanded the edges.  In all, it only took about 30 minutes to put together.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!  Now I have to get this in the mail so my Mom can use it on her next trip! Don't forget to take a photo of what you've been up to recently.  It's...

Unity Friends with Flair

Happy Friday!  It's time again for the Friends with Flair blog hop sponsored by Unity Stamps.  Angela, owner of Unity, has had some fabulous sales and I recently got in on the "free set with purchase" sale.  One of the freebies was an itty bitty set called "Skip A Beat".  The bg panel was created using another freebie "Misplaced Chevron" and the emboss resist technique. Here's what I came up with: Isn't this such a fun image!  ( Shhh! This cutie will be going into a drawer as a Valentine to my DH!)  Don't forget to link up your recent Unity stamp creation.  There are two random winners each week - one from blog participation and another from the blog comments. I also have to share!!  I was a randomly s elected lucky winner recently.  My prize arrived earlier this wee k and w hat a surprise when I opened the envelope to find not only one stamp set, but 25 stamps!!  I was so excited that I had to view them all right away. ...
