Woodblock Wednesday Challenge - Ink Smooshing

Amy Tsuruta hosts a monthly challenge to use our woodblock stamps.  I look forward to playing along each month as it gives me an "excuse" to look through my stash of older stamps.  This month I was in need of an Anniversary card for my cousin and her husband.  This woodblock image from Stampendous (2011) Beachfront Boat worked perfectly.  I've had this one for a while and I believe it was purchased at JoAnne's when they sold the Stampendous line of stamps. The image was stamped onto an ink smooshed (left over ink) page then cut out and layered with black card stock.  A few embossed lines were applied with my cutting board and a sentiment from Unity Stamp Company.  A coordinating border of Stampin' Up! Perfect Plum card stock finishes the card.  My clean and simple design will be going in the mail this week! Di's Digi Designs - Clean and Simple Challenge

I'm joining the current clean and simple challenge at Di's Digi Design Blog.  This sweet Cherry Blossom Mice image was printed onto X-Press It card stock and colored with alcohol markers.  A couple of rectangle dies from Spellbinders was used to cut the image and mat. The image and word die cut were layered onto Bo Bunny designer card stock.  This will be going into my stash for an upcoming anniversary of a couple in our church. Art Impressions Challenge #382 Magical Creatures

Okay, I must admit that the current Art Impressions challenge was, well, a little challenging!  I was stumped on "Magical Creatures" until I remember this little garden gnome in the Gotta Garden set 5000 .  Perfect! I stamped the image three times on X-Press It card stock, colored with alcohol markers and fussy cut.  A few random polka dots were added so that the center gnome would stand out.  "Gnome-one like you!"   A stencil from Tim Holtz was used for the circle background.  I finished the clean and simple design with a few enamel dots on the Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake card stock base. Beccy's Place May Digital Release - Pond Pals

Beccy's Place is featuring a cute critter digital set this month called Pond Pals.  I had so much fun coloring and creating with this set! My first project features the pre-colored seal image from the set in a Faux Center Step card design.  The image was printed directly onto the glacier background.  I printed the seal a second time, fussy cut, and adhered with dimension tape.  Snowflake dies from My Favorite Things with gems and Stickles serve as embellishment. I came across the Faux Center Step card tutorial recently.  It was so easy and I like the dimension it provides.  You can find the tutorial HERE .  The card dimensions and scoring instructions are below for convenience. The super cute hippo image was enlarged printed directly onto kraft card stock.  He was colored with Prismacolor pencils and layered simply onto designer paper with a few gems. Be sure to stop by Beccy's Place store to find this set and many others.  Beccy als...

Art Impressions Challenges - Birds of A Feather and Anchors Away

I'm sharing a fun birthday card with two of the current AI Challenges - the bi-weekly Birds of a Feather and their monthly designer challenge with a theme of Anchors Away. My clean and simple card features the adorable Gull-Friends stamp set. This set is full of fun images and coordinating sentiments PLUS it includes die cuts.  I {LOVE} Bonnie's critters.  She really makes them come to life! I started by stamping the image with Versa Claire black ink and embossing with clear powder.  The image was colored with Copic Markers.  A lightly sponged "sky" and Copic Marker "beach" build the scene quickly.   The card was finished simply by layering onto a striped designer paper.  A coordinating sentiment and flock of flying birds complete the scene. Gerda Steiner Designs - Vrooming By!

I'm back today with another cute critter design from Gerda Steiner Designs called Vrooming By!   This adorable pup on his scooter really makes me smile!  I'm imagining this little guy taking a fun summer ride and "vrooming" his way around town! My clean and simple design started by stamping the image and sentiment with Versafine Clair Nocturne Pigment ink.  The image was then colored with Copic Markers.  I added the exhaust stamp from that I found in my stash.  They could be easily drawn as well. The finished card size is 6 x 3.75 and was layered simply on a piece of black and white designer paper from my (very large) stash of papers. Supplies used for this card:  Gerda Steiner Designs Vrooming By! 3x4 clear stamp set , X-Press It white card stock, Craft's Meow Vintage Ride (exhaust stamp), Copic Markers (E33, E35, E53, YR15, YR68, B24, B28), American Crafts Padma's Pattern designer paper. Penny Black Saturday Challenge - AG or One Layer

I'm sharing a one-layer card for the current Penny Black challenge .  I love the Farmland background.  This is my first time using it, but I already have ideas for future cards!   The image was stamped with VersaFine Clair Pinecone on Stampin' Up! Sahara Sand card stock.  It was colored with Prismacolor pencils.  A partial tractor image from Unity Stamps and sentiment from Sweet 'n Sassy finish the clean and simple design. Angie Blom Designs - Kayak Girl Birthday

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  Angie Blom Designs recently had a great sale and I bought a couple of her digital sets that have been on my wish list.  My card combines Love the Lake Background and Kayak Girl. The background was colored with water color crayons and blended.  I colored the kayak and girl with Copic markers.  I kept the card simple with only a coordinating sentiment and black card stock to frame.  The finished card is 4.25 square.
