Scene Building with Ink Blending, Stenciling and Wobbler Action

I'm so excited to share my first design team project for Pajama Crafter Stamps! For today's card we'll be combining ink blending, stenciling and wobbler action for a fun underwater scene. Stenciling and Ink Blending I began by creating the blended background with various blue distress inks.  Then layered with a sunray stencil from my stash and inked with a darker blue distress ink.  I like to create my scene first which helps me to decide where to place both the focal image and sentiment. Stamping and Cutting The fish image from Mother Puffer stamp set was stamped, ink blended and fussy cut.  A mini wobbler was adhered for the swimming action. Pro Tip:   To make the most of my stamps, I used the shore image from Adventure Awaits  stamp set for the ocean floor by simply cutting out the ocean waves from the polymer stamp.   The image easily realigns on my stamping platform if I want to use it for the original design. Allsorts Challenge #853 Use Stencils

I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer at the Allsorts Challenge !  The current challenge is to use stencils. My card features a retired digital stamp from Lily of the Valley called Swing Time.  The image was printed onto X-Press It card stock and colored with alcohol markers then fussy cut.   I pulled out a Hero Arts stencil and marbled designer paper from my stash for the card base.  Tim Holtz Wild Honey distress ink was used with the stencil.  The tree border was created with retired Memory Box Stitched Cloudline dies and paper scraps from my stash.  I recently purchased the Memory Box gold foiled Greeting Tabs .  They are a quick and easy way to finish a card! HMFMC #460 Anything Goes with option to use GREEN

My card was inspired by "Green" which is this week's optional challenge prompt at House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge . The House Mouse image is an older wood mounted stamp from Stampabilities called Feed and Seed (2005).  I used a stencil and distress ink for the background.  The designer paper was in my stash and the sentiment was computer generated.  A few pearls finish the 5.5 inch square card. HMFMC # 455 AG/ Let It Snow

It's been a while since I've posted on my blog.  It seems that most bloggers are now using IG or FB.  If you follow me, I am still checking my reading list and enjoy seeing your posts. Today I'm playing along with House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge.  The optional challenge is snow, but I went with the Anything Goes theme with this cute woodblock stamp called Knit Gift from Stampendous (2006).  As you can see below, I've inked only a part of the stamp for this clean and simple card. The lightly stenciled background is the Ugly Sweater stencil from PhotoPlay.  The block was inked with VersaClarie Pinecone ink and colored with Copic Markers.  Gems are Stampin' Up! and the sentiment die is from Sizzix. Thanks for stopping by!  I always enjoy reading your comments.  Hope you have a Happy New Year! Mixed Media Altered Junk Envelopes

I recently came across a how-to video on Pinterest demonstrating altered junk envelopes.  I'm sorry I did not save the video and can not give credit to the artist. The final photo in my post shows the envelope that was used for the project.  I trimmed the left end of the envelope about 2 inches then clipped diagonally to achieve the fold you see in the photo. I chose to use various stencils on the front of my envelope and finished with a Mother's Day sentiment.  The back of the envelope (third picture) was covered with a stenciled gelli print on tissue paper. I recently came across a project tip showing crafty items you can create with clothing pattern tissue.  This worked perfectly for the tag which will be inserted into my junk envelope.  You can see in the first photo how the tag appears through the window.  The second photo shows the tag and all of the fun bits along with a vintage photo of my husband and his family. This was such a fun project a...

Art Impressions - Inside Out Challenge #347

I'm joining the current challenge at Art Impressions with the adorable Submarine Cubbies set.  The current challenge is to create both the inside and front of your card.   For ease of photographing, I did not mount the inside of my card immediately.  The left image is the card itself (front) and the right image is the inside panel. My card front started with a MFT sunray stencil and blue cardstock from Stampin' Up!  The submarine and ocean critters were die cut, colored and layered onto the stenciled panel.  A fun ocean floor scene from Impression Obsession was stamped on the bottom edge.  A wave stencil from MFT was used on the inside panel.  A couple of ocean critters from the Submarine Cubbies set were combined with seaweed, silhouette fish and rock from MFT to create the inside scene.       I'm joining the current Mixed Media challenge at Di's Digi Challenge with a colorful birthday card.     My mixed media project started with a stenciled base.  This was my first time playing with stencil butter and it is VERY addicting.  So smooth and easy!  I've used TCW Marigold and Fuchsia Stencil Butter with a Tim Holtz stencil.  While the panel dried, I colored Di's sweet Dilly the Dog image with alcohol inks and die cut.  I love the texture created from the stencil butter!  I finished the card simply with Baker's twine.
