Stampin' In Alaska

  I'm joining the current Mix it Up Challenge at SugarPea Designs.  My card was created with the sketch in mind... although I noticed that it's pretty close with the colors as well! I started by masking and sponging the sun with Tim Holtz distress inks.  The sky was sponged with a scalloped die and distress inks - Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac. The adorable camper/trailer image is from SugarPea's RV There Yet? clear stamp set .  It was colored with Copic markers and die cut with the coordinating dies. The card was finished with a coordinating sentiment, washi tape and sequins. This is my first chance this year to join the challenge at Gerda Steiner .  Each month a fun Anything Goes challenge is posted. I recently purchased this adorable pup digital stamp called Dog and Butterfly .  I printed it onto Stampin' Up! Whisper White card stock twice.  The dog was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with baby oil then fussy cut.  I sponged the background with Memento inks. I chose to use a digital Scripture from Word Art Wednesday .  The blog hosts a fun Anything Goes challenge every two weeks.  They also provide a different Scripture word art on the post.  Be sure to check them out! I'm joining the current Theme and Sketch Challenge at STAMPlorations.  I chose to play with the theme (my Favorite) COFFEE!  Sherry generously posted this Coffee and Roses Collage digital image as a give away earlier this year.  You can check the post HERE . I started by printing the image onto Stampin' Up! Whisper White card stock then colored with Copic Markers.   It has been layered onto SU Cameo Coral card stock and MME Breeze designer paper.   I finished by applying liquid applique for dimension.  A few pearls and Stampin' Up grosgrain ribbon finish the card. I'm joining this week's challenge at Your Next Stamp with this fun Father's Day card.  I pulled out one of my favorite YNS stamps called Keepin' It Reel and coordinating die for this card. I started by stamping the fisherman onto Stampin Up very vanilla card stock, coloring with Tombow markers and paper piecing the vest.  The fish image was die cut, colored and adhered with dimension tape.  I couldn't resist adding the googly eye! LOTS of patterned papers were used on my card from the Campfire paper pad by October Afternoon.  I finished with a few wood veneer stars for dimension. I'm sharing with the current embossing challenge at A Blog Named Hero featuring the Hero Arts January Kit .  I love the detailed stamps in this set.  This is my first attempt creating a window scene.  I definitely need practice! The window was die cut and colored with Alcohol markers.  The awning was paper pieced with scraps from my stash.  I built the scene behind a piece of clear plastic.  Finally, it was mounted onto the Basic Grey card stock base panel which was dry embossed with Tim Holtz brick embossing folder.  I lightly sponged distress ink over the embossing to highlight.   Although the base photographed as black... it's really grey.  The card was finished with a birthday sentiment. I'm joining the March "Going round in Circles" challenge at the Penny Black and More challenge blog .  I started by stenciling clouds onto the base panel then splashing distress ink.   The hedgehog image from the Penny Black Transparent set - Hugs! was colored with Copic Markers and die cut.  A coordinating sentiment was also stamped and die cut.  Both were layered onto black cardstock.  The "bubbles" were die cut using Memory Box Loopy Rings die and vellum.  Small gems finish the card. Hero Arts is hosting a month long challenge to celebrate National Craft Month.  Each week is a different inspiration prompt.  I'm participating this week with a mixed media retro birthday card. I went through my stash and found this retired Poly Clear set called Sew Stylish.  The ladies in the set are so stylish it was hard to resist!   My card started with the ink smooshing technique using various Tombow markers and distress inks. The ink was repeatedly "smooshed" onto water color paper until it was covered.  The background stamp is from Hero Arts Simple Handmade Poly Clear set and was applied with Dusty Concord Distress ink. The color combination is out of my normal comfort zone, but I am happy with the result! Finally, the image was colored with Copic markers and fussy cut then adhered to the base.  The Birthday sentiment is from Hero Arts Type 4x6 Poly Clear set.  A few sequins complete the card. I'm joining the Unity Show and Tell Facebook group challenge this week with the Water coloring Stamping technique.  Check out Laura Mooney's tutorial HERE for this technique. I started with Unity's Cuttlebug Sea Horse set .  Various distress inks (Wilted Violet, Salty Ocean, Peacock feathers & Mermaid Lagoon) were applied directly to the stamp and then misted with water.  I then stamped directly to water color paper.  Distress ink was splattered with a paint brush for the background. A sentiment from the set was stamped with Versafine Clair and dewdrops were applied as bubbles. Good morning!  I'm sneaking in a last minute entry for the March challenge at A Blog Named Hero .  This month's challenge was to create using the theme "Love is in the Air" and a color inspiration. My clean and simple card was inspired by a January Kit Release card posted by Michelle Short .  I LOVE clean and simple designs and this one really caught me eye! I started by stamping the containers and floral images from the January My Monthly Hero Kit .   The images were colored with alcohol markers.  I sponged the partial background using Memento inks - Lilac Posies and Angel Pink.  A sentiment from the kit finishes the card. When I saw the current Art Impressions challenge was floral I pulled out all of my AI sets in search of flowers.  Can you believe it.... I only have two sets that contain a floral image!  Wow!  Well, His & Hers Gardners is one of my favorites and this window scene came immediately to mind.  This is not my typical style and it took three days to create, but well worth it in the end.  I really like how this turned out and I love the coordinating sentiment.  It makes me chuckle every time I use it! I started by stamping the gardener onto Copic marker paper and paper piecing with a scrap piece of gingham.  The image was colored with Copic markers and fussy cut.  The Madison window die, flower box and Grassland border die are all from Memory Box. The base panel is Stampin' Up!  Smokey Slate card stock and embossed with a Tim Holtz Brick emboss folder.  I added a little scrap dp behind the window as a curtain. I'm sharing ...

I'm joining the current Art Impressions Challenge - Flowers with this floral bookmark.  I started by stamping the wagon image from Art Impressions Garden Wagon Mini set .  The wagon was loosely masked with a post-it note then various floral images from the set were stamped in Memento inks.   The Scripture stamp is called Good Work by Verve.  I finished by using the Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangle Large die to cut the bookmark then masking with Memento ink. As I final step I placed the bookmark in a Scotch thermal laminating pouch and ran it through my Scotch laminator.  A quick hole punch and ribbon finish the bookmark. I recently rediscovered this adorable retired MFT set in my stash.  It brings back many memories for me of clothes (including my wedding dress) and doll clothes that were sewn by my mom and grandma.  Sweet memories!! The current sketch challenge provided the perfect opportunity to give the Sew Nifty Die-namics and stamp set some inky love. I started by selecting designer papers from My Mind's Eye Sunshine paper pad.  The base panel was machine stitched with my sewing machine that I've had since college.  I love adding machine stitching to my projects.  A great embellishment, easy and cheap!
