Stampin' In Alaska

This week's Sassy Cheryl challenge is to use the sketch provided with our Sassy Cheryl images.  Sketch challenges are my favorite!  For some reason, I seem to create better when starting with a sketch. Any-who this is what I came up with using one of Cheryl's retiring images called " Patriots Remembered Girl ".  Luckily, I grabbed her from the bargain bin this week.  I don't have very many patriotic themed images and this one is a perfect addition to my collection! Lots of red, white and blue stars and stripes with this design!  I really had a lot of fun putting this together since this isn't a very much used color combo. The image was colored with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils with baby oil.  The card based is a retired Brilliant Blue from Stampin' Up! and the designer paper came from an older DCWV adhesive paper pack.  The white circle was dry embossed with a new embossing folder by the Paper Studio that I picked up at Hobby Lobby ...

Frances is our hostess for the Cornish Heritage Farms challenge .  She chose "Anything Goes" and I decided to use this sweet floral digital image by CHF.  The image was colored with Copic Markers and die cut with Spellbinder nestibilities.  The base card stock was dry embossed with Sizzix a embossing folder. Above is the sketch provided for this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp Club over on Splitcoast Stampers.  While reorganizing my craft room I found a stack of textured cardstock.  I thought this would be the perfect time to try the no-coloring technique that the MFT design team showcased last Fall.  This is what I came up with: This sweet Pure Innocence image " Peek-a-boo " was stamped using Memento Rich Cocoa.  The designer papers are from Pinkpaislee's Prairie Hill paper pack.  The paper flowers and leaves were made with the MFT " Upsy Daisy " Die-namics.  Here is a photo of the finished inside of the card as well.  I really want to be more consistent with finishing the inside of my cards as well! I'm back with another post today for this week's There She Goes sketch challenge .  Sketch challenges are my absolute favorite.  Here is what was provided: I just found TSG a couple of months ago so I'm still ordering my favorite sets.  During a recent blog hop, I saw a sample posted with " Vroom " and knew I must have it.  I am a convertible owner and this was perfect! It's true that "Life is better with your top off!" The convertible was paper pieced with Stampin' Up! Real Red card stock.  The base was created using Memory box and Pink Paislee designer Papers.  The base was dry embossed with Cuttlebug Swissdot emboss folder. The third week of each month is always a  COOL SHADES  challenge on the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Blog .  Below is what I came up with this color combo. I just love Kim's sea critters and the characters in " Surf & Turf " are no exception.  (The ocean wave is from Kim's CHF collection called "Ocean Friends".) So, I pulled out the set and got started.  I've recently found a fondness for the Colorbox pigment inks.  I really like the bright, clean look that they give to the Paper Smooches images.  Don't You? Of course, I added some Stickles for a little dimension.  The card base was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The sentiment is from Amuse. This week's challenge over on the Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog was to use our favorite color combo.  Well, I had a really hard time with an exact combo and decided to use a mix of muted hues that I like.  I also stepped out of my comfort zone this week and used an apron template with this " Sassy Sally Triple Layer Cake " image. I started by printing my Sassy Cheryl image and an apron template from Paper Smooches. I traced the template onto designer paper from the October Afternoon "Fly a Kite" paper pad.  I machine stitched around the base and "pocket". I added rick rack to the pocket and as the apron neckband.  I printed out a fun birthday sentiment from Sentiments 4 You blog and it's ready to mail!  I can even slide money or a gift card into the "pocket" on the front. It's another fun week of challenges on the Mo Manning Digital Challenge Blog .  This week we are challenged to make a circle card with our Mo Manning image.  This is what I came up with:  I kept it pretty Clean and Simple as a Happy Birthday to the men in my family.  I have several who are avid fisherman!  This is called "Fishing" and can be purchased in Mo's store HERE .  This is probably one of my favorites!  I love the details of this image and that I can color it or leave it sepia and it always looks so great.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a closer look. I thought I would share another "progress report" on my craft room facelift.  Hubby & I are knee deep in Spring cleaning around our house.  This week he put up two wall shelves.  I LOVE them!  The first night they were full and he asks "Should I put up a third shelf?"  As you can see, I'm obviously still cleaning and sorting.  If you missed last week's post, you can see my "Before" picture HERE . Sassy Pat has challenged us this week to create a card that is anything but square.  Of course, I had a couple of ideas rolling around, but this rectangle 6.5 by 3.5 card is what I came up with.  I already had "Crabby Surprise" colored so I did a little altering and this is the finished card. The image was colored with Copic Markers.  Lucky for you, this image is still available and on sale for $2.00 right now.  Check is out HERE before it's gone. The sun was created using an MFT die-namics, felt and fun foam.  A couple of dew drops were added for dimension.  A machine stitching border was added for the base and the crab was cut out and popped up.  The base designer paper is from the Echo Park Splash paper pack. This week's Sparks Challenge   is to use the provided sketch with our Paper Smooches images.  I guess I followed the sketch "loosely".  I immediately thought of the music notes floating up in various colors.  So, this is what I came up with: Really fun sketch with lots of possibilities!  I used the "Perpetual Bliss" stamp set.  The image was colored with Copic Markers and the music notes were stamped with Adirondack inks.  Thanks for stopping by to take a look!

This week has flown by and I wanted to share with the Sassy Cheryl gang what has been going on at my house this past week!  We aren't REALLY under construction, but doing a lot of cleaning and facelifts.  Here's a before photo of my crafting room Here's the "in progress" photo of my crafting room. My DH has been going through the entire house (except the kitchen which is wallpaper) and painting!  What a guy!  He left this room until the end since I'm wanting to have some additional work done in here.  He's also going to replace the door and trim.  I've even bought new sheers for the window.  So far, I'm not finding the curtains that I want to put in this room.  Okay, if I HAVE TO, I will pull out my sewing machine and actually use it to make curtains.  But ONLY as a last resort!! :) Together DH and I chose a cheery yellow for the bedrooms.  We both really like it so far.  He's been a really good sport about it al...

I couldn't resist putting together a second card for Paper Smooches contest .  This card was made using Paper Smooches "Perpetual Bliss" and "Boob Tubes" sets.  I replaced the sentiment in the light bulb with one from the "Boob Tubes" set. Thanks for taking a closer look!

This is my crafting desk tonight.  Thought I would share my works in progress with the Sassy Cheryl Show Me followers this week.  I also have a few "goodies" from Hobby Lobby that I picked up during my recent trip to visit family.  It's a bummer, but we don't have a Hobby Lobby in Anchorage!!
