Woodblock Wednesday Guest Designer

Amy Tsuruta hosts a monthly Anything Goes blog challenge.  The only requirement is that we use woodblock stamps.  I hope you will check out Woodblock Wednesday and join the fun this month! I was the lucky random winner for September and was asked to Guest Design this month.  Of course, I accepted!  While browsing my rather large collection of woodblock stamps I came across this group of ocean themed images from A Muse Artstamps.  The stamps are not dated, but I know they are at least from early 1990s. I figured the Story Tile Template die from Art Impressions would be a perfect way to display all of the images.  The images were colored with Copic markers and adhered with dimension tape.  A few clear drops from Studio Katia were added for extra dimension. Art Impressions Challenge - Spread Kindness

Good morning!  I hope everyone is having a crafty week so far. I'm sharing a fun beach scene featuring an older woodblock stamp from Art Impressions .  I love this series of cute penguins that Bonnie released.  The stamp is dated 2006, but her fabulous images are timeless! I began by stamping the penguin couple then masking to stamp the sunset (1997 Coronado Island Stamping) woodblock stamp.  The scene was ink blended with various distress inks.  The lounging couple was colored with Tombow markers.  The scene was die cut using Unity Stamp Company Postage Stamp Nesting Dies. I hope this card brings a smile to the recipient!  After all, isn't that what our crafty hobby is all about?! Woodblock Wednesday - Floral Anniversary

Amy Tsuruta generously hosts a monthly challenge for all of us who still treasure our woodblock stamps.  The last day of the month she invites everyone to dust off their woodblock stamps and create. During a recent antique trip, I came across a group of three floral stamps sitting all alone among a booth of other treasures.  Of course, they came home with me!  Lucky me - one of the stamps is Hero Arts Silhouette Spray (2010) and in perfect condition. The image was stamped with Adirondack Pesto, Lettuce and Mushroom dye inks then die cut with Unity Stamps Stitched Scallops & Arches nesting dies.  I lightly inked the edges with Latte dye ink.  The image was layered onto silver cardstock arched die.  I found the beautiful designer paper on a recent trip to my local Hobby Lobby store.  LOVE the colors!  It was mounted onto Stampin' Up! Always Artichoke card stock.  The card was finished with a woodblock sentiment from Hero Arts, gems, ...

Woodblock Wednesday Challenge - Ink Smooshing

Amy Tsuruta hosts a monthly challenge to use our woodblock stamps.  I look forward to playing along each month as it gives me an "excuse" to look through my stash of older stamps.  This month I was in need of an Anniversary card for my cousin and her husband.  This woodblock image from Stampendous (2011) Beachfront Boat worked perfectly.  I've had this one for a while and I believe it was purchased at JoAnne's when they sold the Stampendous line of stamps. The image was stamped onto an ink smooshed (left over ink) page then cut out and layered with black card stock.  A few embossed lines were applied with my cutting board and a sentiment from Unity Stamp Company.  A coordinating border of Stampin' Up! Perfect Plum card stock finishes the card.  My clean and simple design will be going in the mail this week! Penny Black Saturday Challenge - On The Farm

The current Penny Black Saturday Challenge is On The Farm .  This is an older (2006) wood mount stamp from my stash called Spinning A Yarn.  The image was stamped onto water color paper and colored with Tombow markers.  It was layered onto a variety of designer papers from the Carta Bella Farm to Table paper pad.  A few enamel dots finish the card. I used baker's twine for the ball of yarn with this image a few years ago.  You can see it HERE . PBSC February - Anything Goes Challenge

I'm joining a few challenges with a mixed media design featuring Penny Black Irises wood mount stamp from 2003.  I love the water color effect of the image. I began with water color paper and smooshing several layers of Hero Arts reactive inks.  Acrylic paint was lightly splattered for additional dimension.  Stampin' Up! gems, a die from Stamplorations and gingham bow finish the card. Woodblock Wednesday - Mixed Media Birthday

Amy Tsuruta hosts a monthly challenge inspiring crafters to give some inky love to our forgotten woodblock stamps.  I found a large stamp at my local thrift store last weekend.  I couldn't wait to use it and the style seemed perfect for a mixed media design. The stamp is from a company that I was not familiar with.  Stamps Happen, Inc and the stamp is called New York Socialite.  The stamp is large and had never been inked!  I love these thrift store finds.   I'm joining the current House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge.  My Anything Goes card features House Mouse Designs 1998 (Stampa Rosa) Best Friends wood mount stamp. Wood Block Wednesday and Penny Black Challenges

The current challenge at Penny Black Saturday challenge is Bingo.  My card features an older Penny Black wood mounted stamp - Irises 2664L.  It was the perfect image for my mixed media birthday card. The image was stamped onto a Gelli Print book page then framed with CTMH card stock.  The MFT die cut sentiment was cut in black card stock twice for dimension.  A few gems finish the card.
